At the Council Meeting on 28 May Council considered a proposal to support a reduction in the speed limit on the Channel Highway from just north of Saddle Road to just south of Oxleys Road.  Click here to download a copy of the report to Council.

The minutes of the meeting record that the following motion was carried 7 votes for and 5 against:

That the report of Executive Manager Engineering Services be received and that Council support the lowering of the speed limit from 60 km/h to 50 km/h between the bridge and Oxleys Road in Channel Highway, Kettering.

Councillors Bury, Black, Higgins, Wriedt, Wass, Fox and Nolan voted in favour of the motion.  Councillors Bush, Grace, Street, Chatterton and McGinniss voted against the motion.

DIER are ultimately responsible for any changes to the speed limit but they are more likely to make the changes given the request has Council support.
