Easter is a Christian festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion at Calvary as described in the New Testament. This year Easter will be celebrated between 18 April and 21 April and residents and visitors to the Channel area are warmly invited to participate.
Churches along the Channel will be lit up during the week – don’t panic, quite intentionally – to honour the world changing events of the first Easter.
The Kettering Church will be open from 6.00pm to 8.00pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings with soft lighting and gentle music. Call in for some personal time as you journey home.
On Good Friday, 18 April, worship will be held from 9.00am in St Simon and St Jude in Woodbridge and a service of reflection will be held in the Woodbridge Uniting Church from 7.30pm.
On Easter Sunday, 20th, from 9.30am the Channel Choir will bring a feast of lovely music in a combined celebration at the Uniting Church, Woodbridge.
This choir consists totally of local voices from the Channel – you’ve heard them in Christmas Choir, trained again by Penny King. Music will include:
- Mozart’s Joy
- a touch of the trauma of the cross from Henry Gheel
- an Anne Herring Easter song
- a so quiet psalm “make thy way plain before my face”
- honest folk “His eye is on the sparrow”
- and the loved Brother James Air.
There will also be other old and recent songs of celebration.
All are most welcome to attend.
