Our little church cum chapel near the cemetery was busy last week for the funeral service for Mr Bernard A. Cockshutt, an early resident of Kettering and then Snug.  For many years he was employed at the Electrona works.  Mr Cockshutt  was buried near his wife who died 12 years ago.

For present day Kettering residents there will be a Community Service on Sunday, June 30th commencing 9.30am.

A unanimous decision was made at a Special General Meeting of the Kettering Yacht Club last Tuesday night. A majority of members present voted in favour of accepting the committee’s recommendations to purchase the Roaring 40’s building and lease, which will then become the new clubhouse.

Local volunteers were busy last week working to complete Stage 1 of a three-stage project to upgrade the Kettering Point Walking Track and extend the track around the headland to Trial Bay. Project co-ordinator, Eric Baldwin, said he was delighted with the result.

After originally being lodged in May 2012, a development application for the multi-million dollar DIER Ferry Road upgrade finally made it into the public domain over Easter this year. Construction work is expected to commence in September this year.  A copy of the development application can be downloaded here (2Mb PDF).  Closing date for representations is 22 April 2013.
